F.A.Q.
1. How does someone get involved in O.U. Improv!?
Answer: We are always looking for more people to get involved behind the scenes. Just contact us and let us know what you'd like to help out with. As for becoming a player or musician, it never hurts to introduce yourself to us and let us know you're interested. We currently have open auditions once a year.
If you want to play but don't have a lot of experience, we recommend taking part in our Improv Institute or one of the many other public improv workshops we teach every year.
2. How do you choose players?
Answer: Answer: We choose players based on skill level, commitment, attitude, reliability, experience, and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
3. What kind of people make good O.U. Improv! team members?
5 aspects we are looking for in a future improviser...
1. Impulse-- Can the player make things up quickly on the spot? Do they adjust to the intangibles in a scene?
2. Coachability-- Is the player friendly, and able to work well with others? Are they focused on improving?
3. Versatility-- Is the player able to play a different range of characters? Emotions? Voices? Can the player add different aspects to their character or do they play the same character every time?
4. Energy-- Is the player ready to have a good time? Do they want to have a good time? Are they giving their all at auditions?
5. Presentation-- Do they have stage presence? Is their voice loud enough? Do they enunciate? Are they focused? Are they confident? Do they have some raw skill already?
